Last year, we experienced our CW theme not only through our graphics but also through our actions: trying to cut down waste where we could and building sustainability into what we did.
During Ramadan our habits often create a mountain of waste that may last a lifetime in harming our environment. Alhamdulillah, it’s been great to see glimpses of the muslim community embracing our responsibility of looking after all that we have and ensuring our Ramadan is as eco-friendly as can be!
Here’s how some mosques in the UK are taking this up:
This is the second year that the Charity Week Germany team is partaking in an Eco-Ramadan. Building on their successful bottle-free Taraweeh prayers last year, they’re going all out this year and following this handy guide to make it easier!
We’re going green, because it’s part of our deen!
“And it is He (God) who has made you successors (khala’ifa) upon the earth and has raised some of you above others in degrees [of rank] that He may try you through what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is swift in penalty; but indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.”(6:165)
