Charity Week 2019 planning began for most of the team from late February, early March. Since then we’ve been progressing forward, but now are in the midst of the Ramadan break.
Some of the team might be twiddling their thumbs in anticipation of coming back to CW work, but today we’re going to discuss why it’s important to have a break and to make the most out of these special days & nights.
In Islam we see there is a very clear notion that there is a time and place for everything. The most prominent being our five daily salah, prescribed at set times. In our busy days, which might be full of doing good, working towards attaining Allah’s pleasure, there are still set times where we stop whatever we’re doing and we have that obligatory time to talk to our Lord.
Likewise, within the year we have the month of Ramadan, a time for us to recharge our Imaan, reflect on the year gone by and reset from anything we find ourselves caught up in. Now we find ourselves in the last few days, and the biggest piece of advice is be selfish! Invest in Yourself!
It is reported that within the last ten nights of Ramadan, Laylatul Qadr can be found. A night described in the Quran as:
“The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” [Qur’an: 97:3-5]
Across the course of the year you all work tirelessly to serve the community around you, and to make our vision of Unity a reality.
Now is the time to strengthen your connection with our Creator, take a break from that which usually makes you busy and invest in yourself. Insha’Allah, not only will we be better for it ourselves; it will allow us to come back to working in Charity Week with even more enthusiasm and strength!
